Presenters: Teresa DuChateau, School Nurse Resource Coordinator, Wisconsin Public Health Association
Bette Carr, School Nursing Consultant, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
In this School Nurse Summer Institute school nurses will be encouraged to get their school-house in order—getting their job descriptions and policies in place for the start of the new school year. The most up-to-date information on delegation and best practice in the school setting will be discussed as well as a sharing of School Nurse job descriptions and evaluations reflecting best practice. The process of school policy-making will be discussed and the afternoon session will allow for hands on learning with school nurses being asked to bring their district’s current policies and protocols for review on: Emergency Nursing Services; Medication Administration—including rules or protocols for administration, emergency medications, field trips, and extended trips; Food Allergies and Asthma; Concussions; and Lice.
